It’s come to that time when winter has crept up on us way too fast. Break out the scarves and gloves! Scarves are a really great fashion piece that can be worn year round. My favorite time is the winter because it gives you a sense of coziness and a comfortable feeling.

Scarves literally come in all shapes, sizes, prints, patterns and fabric. You can never find two of the same one! This FIT Fashionista has a printed infinity one worn perfectly with a leather jacket. What caught my eye about this one was the metallic threading throughout. It’s very faint, but gives a sparkle when close up.

Any Fashionista/o can make scarves fit their own personal style. There are so many different and cool ways to wear them. I’ve recently seen people on campus simply draping the scarf over their shoulders. That type of look is perfect for a little warmth in a chilly classroom or even at a formal event to keep from overexposure.

Scarves can be found anywhere and at any price point. This fall I’ve been seeing tons of prints, which are great. My personal favorite is the skull scarf from Zara. It’s really edgy and fun. If you’re looking for a thicker, luxe scarf Michael Kors has an extremely cozy looking one.

Spotted: Donna Karan sent models down the runway with scarves in spring 2011.

Accessories can instantly change the feel of an outfit. Whether you add a long necklace to a simple black dress or a bright pair of pumps to a pair of skinny jeans those elements glamorize an outfit. This Fashionista took a neutral outfit of leggings, riding boots and a blazer and added some glam when she threw a bright floral scarf on.

Scarves are the perfect accessory for the cooler months when you can leave the house and not have to worry about bundling up for the walk to class. This Fashionista embraced the fall season with a light blazer and tall riding boots. She chose a classic fall accessory to brighten up her look.

Choose a simple outfit to add a bright scarf. You won’t want to mix too many patterns or textures together so choose your pieces wisely. A printed wool scarf from J.Crew would be the perfect addition to an outfit like this Fashionista rocks. The bright emerald color would go nicely with a plain black slip dress or black blazer and jeans. Either way you have a put together ensemble for class or a night out. Aerie offers a Floral Loop Scarf in a variety of colors that would also brighten up a fall day. The deep sea color is colorful without being too bright and taking away from the rest of your look.

No matter what type of scarf you choose to brighten up your day, invest in different styles and colors now because this is an accessory you can incorporate into any fall or winter look. The best pieces are the ones that you can recycle into the next season. The heavy scarf would be perfect to throw over a tan trench. Gap also sells wool scarves. Their infinity styles come in black and red and scream holiday season.

Spotted: rag & bone crafted a black and white scarf for their fall 2012 collection.

Head wraps have served as head covers since the early 1700s, often as a sign of wealth and prosperity. Today, head wraps, such as this Fashionista’s gorgeous version, are now a stylish alternative to styling your hair. By incorporating a loose-fitting button-up top, distressed jeans and great leather accessories into her look, this Fashionista pulled together the perfect look for a day in class.

To recreate this Fashonista’s look, start by shopping for a simple white button up with a relaxed fit. For an affordable option, try this “Studded Pocket Shirt” by Forever 21. Then for a pair of distressed skinny jeans, try this pair by GoJane.

Onto the accessories! I absolutely love how this Fashionista tied her headscarf. For an easy and inexpensive way to transform your look, look for a rectangular-shaped scarf or the right amount of fabric and practice tying it by consulting online tutorials. A great pair of riding boots is a must-have in every girl’s wardrobe. To purchase a pair similar to this Fashionista’s boots, visit DSW.com and invest in these “Franco Sarto Carlotta Riding Boots.” Finally, for a crossbody bag with a similar vintage feel, check out this “Vintage Revival Crossbody” by Fossil.

Spotted: Even big-name designers, such as Luisa Beccaria are including head wraps in their fashion lines. Check out Beccaria’s spring 2013 Read-to-Wear Collection to see the designer’s take on the head wrap.

‘Tis the season…of the weather not being able to make up her mind! In turn comes the confusion on what to wear, the Badgers finally picking it up and oh hey, President Obama came to town! With so many things happening at once, where to start? Let’s choose the first idea as a start, since you know, this is neither a football blog nor a political one.

This Fashionista is nowhere close to being confused on what to wear for this transition weather that Wisconsin has tested her to face. She went simple with black tights, a quarter-sleeve thin sweater and long, tan boots. With this weather, every girl’s go-to is a scarf. It’s an accessory that can be worn in a million different ways and as easy is it can be worn, it can be taken off and put away to store. This Fashionista has just wrapped her comfy scarf a few times around her neck. Go ahead and try wrapping your scarf like this Fashionista. You can lightly place it around your neck and knot it in the front, wrap it once with the two ends hanging from the sides or even try wrapping it and knotting it! Last but not least, try rocking Lil’ Wayne’s scarf style. This look is great if you use a multicolored scarf with a white or black V-neck!

This Fashionista had her own level of swag when she told me where she got this scarf and her beautiful rings. Guess?! Russia. Most of us just feel like it’s a big land on the map like any other place we haven’t been. So, try this dare: don't be so wrapped up in your comfort zone and try to get pieces of your wardrobe from somewhere you’ve never been!

Spotted: Check out Kenneth Cole’s scarves — great on ladies and gentlemen!

In California it's common for natives to hear people say that we live in a land without seasons, just sunshine year round. Before I moved here five years ago, I said the same thing. However, after living here I realized this is not the case at all. I'm here to report that in California the season is slowly but surely changing; a change I embrace with open arms. Fall and winter clothes are without a doubt my favorite. The chunky sweater, scarf, and boot combo is a Fashionista staple. This is why I couldn't pass up an opportunity to showcase my favorite transition accessory.

I caught this Fashionista walking back from a library study sesh, neck draped in a colorful scarf. She had wrapped the scarf around twice so it rested just under her chin. While I personally am a fan of both styles, this one retains a summery look despite the fact that the scarf is usually a cold weather item. The lightweight material is important to achieve this look as well. Heavy wool scarves still have some time left in the back of the closet. Her entire look works well with the scarf too. Her safari jacket paired with shorts and Sperry Top-Spider shoes are laid back and comfortable; the perfect combination for a day in the library.

To get this look it's a good idea to look for a scarf that's circular. This ivy skull scarf from Topshop is a good example. They also have this ombre scarf whose colors work for winter too. My favorite is the Bead Edge Triangle Scarf, which is a modern twist on '50s ascots, a poplar fashion for fall 2012. Whether you wear this accessory with jeans and a white tank or a button-up blouse, you will look effortlessly stylish.

Spotted: Colorful handkerchief scarves were seen on the Celine ready to wear 2012 fall runway.
