Accessories Report

When it comes to winter clothes most people immediately think of loose, bulky layers topped off with a puffy jacket. Here in Bloomington, Fashionistas have broken that pattern, partly because the weather has been unpredictably warmer than it usually is in December, and partly because Indiana University has a very rendy student body. Instead of settling for shapeless frocks this season, Fashionistas all over campus are topping their outfits off with waist belts to cinch it all in.

This Fashionista did a great job of not only keeping up with the unpredictable weather, but also accentuating her figure with a belt. She has paired a skinny belt with a white button-down shirt, skinny jeans, black circle scarf and boots. A skinny belt like her's is perfect for when you feel like adding shape to an outfit without drawing too much attention the belt. For times when you want to make a waist belt the focal point of an outfit, choose a chunky belt like this. If your personal style is on the quirkier side, go with a belt with an interesting buckle like this. For a nighttime version, go for a sleek metal belt like this over a maxi dress or sheer shirt. Even if you're rocking a dress, skirt or shirt, there's a belt out there to cinch it all in.

Whether the temperature is below freezing or at room temperature, belts are the perfect way to add definition and style to any winter outfit.
