Accessories Report

You may opt for paper at the grocery, but this spring you’re going to pine after plastic. Still on trend from last year’s futuristic fashions is the simplistic yet bold clear plastic trend. Have some fun with this synthetic material that designers have gone crazy for.

Students across campus took advantage of a brief burst of spring weather and let some of their best warm weather outfits shine. This Fashionista initially caught my eye with her skeletal style. She continued her “bare all” look with some wonderfully retro jelly sandals. Get in touch with your inner child and rock some jellies like it’s the 1980s. These shoes literally go with any color outfit, so you just can’t go wrong with jelly sandals this spring. This trend is clearly one for the ages.

Show the world how transparently cool your style is this season. The use of clear plastic puts a modern twist on any classic accessory and totally amps up your outfit. If you are looking to start off easy, put a spring in your step with these kate spade jelly sandals. Feeling bold? Take this trend by storm and try out a translucent rain jacket (pun entirely intended). Go for a striking minimalist look by pairing a plastic jacket with a monochromatic ensemble. If you still need to be convinced that this see-through style is for you, I’ll leave you with the wise words of Aqua’s Barbie Girl, “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic.”

Spotted: Phillip Lim’s spring 2014 menswear collection included some wonderfully transparent footwear.
