Like I said in my Style Guru Bio, I’m big on wearing neutrals. Open up my closet and all you’ll find is a range of whites, beiges, grays and my favorite—black. So it was only natural that I approached this Fashionista after spotting her all-black getup. What I didn’t notice from afar, though, was her cute and trendy headwear.
To be honest, I don’t usually wear hair accessories, so they don’t really come to mind when I’m styling an outfit. After seeing this Fashionista though, I’m seriously reconsidering. The boho beauty accented her embroidered skull T-shirt and maxi skirt with a Free People fringe bag and some simple jewelry. To top it off, she wore a beautiful turban as a headdress. Never has bohemian chic looked so effortless. With its casual yet elegant feel, the turban is an easy accessory for anyone to adopt. What’s even better is that it’s welcome to all types of hair. Whether you rock a pixie cut, bob or long waves, the turban can work some serious hair magic.
So whether you’re channeling your inner bohemian like this Fashionista, simply looking to add a nice touch to your already amazing outfit or maybe just want to hide the fact you’re having a terrible hair day, the turban is the way to go. This Fashionista was clearly ahead of the game, as she got her’s months ago from H&M. Don’t worry though, the turban is still going strong.
If you’re a little hesitant to try this kind of headwear, you can try using a headwrap first. Baby steps, guys! Check out this two toned one from Nordstrom. On the contrary, if you’re ready to go all out, here’s a look-alike similar to the Fashionista’s from Etsy. And lastly, for all you creative souls out there, here are a couple of places where you can learn how to make a DIY headwrap and/or a turban. Happy styling!
Spotted: Hats off to Luisa Beccaria! Turbans were all the rage at her spring 2013 show.
