One of my favorite things to do while traveling is shop. Besides wandering around museums, stomping through winding city streets and dabbling with the local cuisine, shopping is one of the best ways to get to know a place, especially if you wander off the beaten path. After finding that perfect piece that encapsulates the vibe of your destination, you have a concrete reminder of your worldly experiences. And the best part is that you can wear it!
Not only is this Fashionista simply rocking her denim cutoffs, fringe and black ankle boots that are excellent for exploring, she is toting evidence of some seriously impressive globetrotting. Her wonderfully mismatched rings and necklace represent four countries on three continents. Her necklace brings the mystique of Thailand, her amber ring the vastness of Russia and, of course, she wears jewelry from her native London—two rings from a craft fair. Put together with an outfit that is clearly perfect for searching out the coolest local spots in a foreign city, this girl is ready to find the best of what’s around.
Jewelry seems particularly evocative of traveling experience, perhaps because you can always look down at your adorned hands and wrists and remember all your cultural adventures. I love that this Fashionista is able to wear pieces from where she has been and instantly recall the stories that go with. Her globally sourced outfit truly captures the storytelling capability of fashion. This Fashionista brings a whole new meaning to “statement jewelry.”
