Accessories Report

It seems that we saw studs everywhere this past year. From eye-catching jewelry, to DIY jackets, to my favorite stud of all time, Channing Tatum. Hello ‘Sexiest Man Alive!’ Upon stepping onto campus, I encountered this Fashionista with her shoe game on point. Literally. The spikes on the tip of her combat boots delivered a fresh twist to the all too familiar fashion trend from earlier last year.

Pairing her boots with muted green shorts and black thigh highs from Forever 21, her style is the perfect combination of edgy meets feminine classic. Accommodating the weather’s mood-swings with her own personal style, this Fashionista’s fierce combat boots and sheer H&M top is the perfect balance of contrasts. Keeping her jewelry minimal, her spiked shoe accents give her otherwise polished outfit a bit of an edge.

Continuing this element of surprise, shoe accents were found all over the spring runways this season. Two toned, studded, chained and patent leather embellishments were heavily decorated all over platforms, heels and sneakers alike. These eye-catching show stoppers instantly became this year’s newest closet essential.

Now I know what you are thinking — shorts and 70+ degree weather in the winter time? Blasphemy. But according to this California Fashionista, anything is possible. Where some places have snow and rain boots, we have studs and tan lines. So, shorts and studs in January it is. Take that winter.

SPOTTED: Embellished footwear were seen amping up the runway of Isabel Marant this season. They can also be found in the new shoe collection of Ruthie Davis.
