Although the weather in the city has recently been back and forth between frigid and beautiful, us Fashionistas are definitely in the spring mindset. We are ready for the days of bright floral prints, skirts (sans tights) and bohemian styled days spent on the great lawn in Central Park. Until then we are keeping our style strong with transition looks, part spring part winter.
This week, our Fashionista has on a perfect transition outfit, topped off with the perfect shoes. For starters, her outfit colors are bright yet still dark, a mix of deep blues and black really give a nice bit of color to the look. Her graphic circle skirt is the perfect skirt for any outfit, with or without tights. The skirt is a garment that you can add a simple solid shirt too and make a chic look out of. The key to a transition outfit is to have separates that combine both winter and spring looks, to be on trend as well as warm enough to explore the city.
The shoes on this Fashionista are really what attracted me to her, I love great wedges and these are a fun pair! For starters, the suede finish gives them a wintery vibe that one doesn’t normally see in wedges; usually they are wooden soles or an espadrille look to them. The peep toe adds to the transition outfit, while you have the wintery look, the toe allows for a spring feel as well. I recommend every Fashionista invest in a good pair of wedges—they’re easy to walk in, make your legs look great, and work for most seasons. A definite spring must have are these shoes, they are neutral colors so pair them with earth tones or something more exciting and dress up your outfit!
Our Fashionista paired her wedges with a pair of opaque tights to keep a little warmer on a chilly day, but when the sun comes out we all know the legs do too!
My challenge to you this week is to go a little fancier than you normally would, add a heel or wedge to your favorite spring outfit. This doesn’t have to be to class or to a school function, you could even go to dinner with your friends and add a nice shoe to accessorize. No matter what you do it’s always an indication of warmer days when our spring wedges come out of storage.
