ACCESSORIES REPORT: Watch Out

Accessories Report

Fashion can seem like an over-the-top competition of who can come up with the most ridiculously avant-garde accessory for their outfit. In a world full of arm parties, layering and statement necklaces, it can be refreshing to be met with simplicity every once in a while. You’ll stand out in a crowd by going with a clean approach, complemented by a low-key, yet trendy accessory.

The element that had me completely sold on the look was this Fashionisto’s impeccable Timex watch. Watches are versatile pieces because they serve as functional and fashionable accessories. The tan leather strap and large black face complement this Fashionisto’s skin tone and classic approach to style. Plus, a watch just naturally makes you look like you have your stuff together. It definitely looks much cooler to casually glance down at your wrist to tell the time than it does when you’re scrambling around trying to figure out which pocket you shoved your iPhone into. I’ll trust a guy with a cool watch any day.

This Fashionisto clearly mastered the art of minimalism in a classically stylish way by opting for a crisp, light blue oxford button-up with rolled sleeves and black jeans. His simple gray canvas sneakers with bright white laces support the brilliance behind this classically-inspired ensemble. The look pays homage to Vampire Weekend’s effortlessly trendy front man, Ezra Koenig. All this Fashionisto is missing are a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers and a white knit sweater tied around his shoulders in an ever-so-perfectly disheveled manner.

Spotted: Elizabeth and James fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection is full of classically-inspired minimalistic elements such as clean lines, pin-striped blazers and monochromatic color schemes. Minimalism will never go out of style.
