Recently, Boston has been teasing us with warm and sunny days. Last weekend, everyone took advantage of the warm spell. Fashionistas left the tights at home and Fashionistos opted for lighter layers as well. Even though the sun is shining and you can walk around without heavy coats and scarves, you still must be prepared with appropriate outerwear. That’s why having your lighter jackets prepared for duty is always important.
Today’s Fashionisto is sporting a great quilted two-toned jacket that is perfect for the sometimes spring like weather. He is layering it over a plaid button-down, skinny jeans and gray sneakers. His look is pulled together and his jacket is heavy enough to shield him from any unexpected bursts of wind. The pop of pattern that he includes with the warm-toned plaid top is another great element to his look. It breaks up the solids and adds more color to his ensemble.
While I’m sure all of you own an assortment of lightweight outerwear, I highly recommend investing in a two-tone jacket. Not only do you get two colors in one piece, but it is also an easy way to neutralize an outfit or even add a pop of bright colors. They are also great because they pair well with various patterns and prints. If you have a blue and light gray one like today’s Fashionisto, you can sport that with blue stripes or warmer hues that would complement the blue. Even if you wear a bright neon yellow striped T-shirt, the gray (or any neutral color on the jacket) will help tone it down nicely.
Whether you are a Fashionisto or Fashionista, two-tone jackets are a great accessory to have in your closet. For Fashionistos looking for a neutral style that will pair well with plaids, stripes or your favorite solid button-downs, take a look at this New Look Bomber Jacket from ASOS. The red and gray tones can pair well with jeans and a graphic T-shirt for a morning class or weekend errands. If you want one with a bit more color, check out this green and beige jacket from Karmaloop. For Fashionistas looking for a versatile two-tone jacket, a black and white style is great for day and evening looks.
