Well folks, it has arrived. It’s officially that time of the year when it’s easy to find yourself in a quandary between boxing up the winter boots and digging out the flip flops. For the past week or so, I’ve been noticing a wide display in the range of shoes students are choosing to wear. From UGGs to Old Navy flip flops—I have seen it all. With the ambiguity of the weather during this time, it’s difficult to gauge what the best choice of footwear might be. My solution for this period of uncertainty is a pair of flats. Pass the time before you pick out your nail polish and prepare your feet for the upcoming days of flip flops and strappy sandals by putting on a pair of flats.
With the abundance of flats available today, they can easily become one of the most versatile items in your wardrobe. Flats are a wonderful choice of shoe because they are not only stylish but comfortable as well. Some flats can be just as comfy as a pair of slippers. Due to their comfort, versatility and wide range of styles, many women can be seen choosing a fancy pair of flats over heels.
What attracted me to this Fashionista were of course, her bright red flats. Whether you are headed to class, giving a presentation or enjoying a baseball game, there is a pair of flats out there to suit your needs. This Fashionista did a wonderful job using her fabulous red flats as a way to add a pop of color to her outfit. If your outfit has neutral colors, add a pair of bright or funky patterned flats to give your outfit something extra. Or if your outfit is full of color, add a neutral pair of flats to give your outfit balance.
Next time you aren’t sure about what might be appropriate for the weather or occasion, choosing to wear a pair of flats is always a safe, yet stylish bet. With spring in the air, a pair of bright colored, metallic or pointed toe flats is the perfect way to step into the season.
Spotted: Even the runway models are foregoing the heels and making their way down the catwalk in flats. For proof and inspiration, check out the footwear in the Rochas spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection.
