ACCESSORIES REPORT: Trendy Toque

Accessories Report

Okay, so my title may be confusing. It’s commonly just known as a beanie. So what? Even though I’m not Canadian, I feel the name just rolls off the tongue so much better. Anyway, regardless of what you want to call it, I advise you to pick one of these up stat.

Whether you just want to cover up a little more on a cold day or you’re simply looking to add a new twist to your style, I’d say this headwear is just about the easiest way to go. And the best part? The most basic of beanies can be found at your nearest dollar store. Aren’t you proud, Macklemore?

As a fashion student in college, I’m always trying to balance my budget with my style. And as this accessory proves, not every fashion statement needs to be extremely expensive. This accessory can be dressed up or down. This Fashionisto chose to wear his toque with some urban details. In a monochromatic getup made up of a little Johnny Cash, an array of bracelets and rings and the ever-so-classic Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, he kept his look super cool and laid-back.

Keep in mind though, that’s just one of the many ways to sport this hot headwear. Throw it on over a blazer and you’ve just given casual Friday at work a whole new twist. Or simply top your bed head off for a quick re-vamp of your on-the-go look.

Like I said earlier, beanies can be found at most dollar stores, so there’s really nothing to lose with giving them a try. If you’re looking for a particular color, I’m sure American Apparel carries it. But if you want to be a little bolder, check out this cool navy stars and stripes bobble beanie hat from River Island.

Spotted: Better hurry, beanies are here to stay. Check out BCBG Max Azria’s and Michael Bastian’s fall 2013 ready-to-wear shows to see how they were styled.
