This week’s Fashionista caught my attention with all eyes on her statement necklace. I have seen quite a few on campus; however, a lot of them were very spring or summer oriented. Who’s to say that a statement necklace couldn’t be a natural tone? It’s nice to know that a few fall or winter themed statement necklaces are in existence.
I would have to say there are a few attributes to what makes this statement necklace form her ensemble. First, I would have to say that less is better in this case. This Fashionista really understood that in order for a statement necklace to work you must keep your garments simple. A great way to do this is to keep your garments nude. Also, let whatever necklace you choose to wear do all the talking. This means, if you choose to wear earrings, studs are probably your best bet unless otherwise. Second, who’s to say that because your wearing one necklace you cant wear another? The trend of layering goes past the idea of clothing. It’s fine to wear a small pendant underneath as you can see this Fashionista chose to do so. For those of you who are jewelry fanatics and are just itching to put another accessory on, a ring is perfectly fine. In fact, a bold ring is great! Lastly, I would top this look off with a nude lip color. Wearing a lip color other than nude can be a tad too much since your necklace is most likely going to be bold due to its color.
So many people fear of drawing attention to them, however if you’ve got the necklace, flaunt it! Just remember make sure your necklace swoops down and goes accordingly to the right cut of your blouse. And, for those of you who aren’t into statement necklaces that swoop down low, try a nice collar necklace that looks great with a high cut or collard shirt.
