ACCESSORIES REPORT: Tough as Old Boots

Accessories Report

If we thought it was cold in Savannah before, we were mistaken. This past week has brought unbelievable weather for the South. School was cancelled for SCAD two days in a row because of a storm that brought ice rain in Savannah and snow across other parts of the state. So everyone took advantage of the snow days to finish up those projects they thought were going to turn into all-nighters or just bundled up and hung out with friends. Also, the days off gave us some time to relax before midterms so even though that means make up days are later on, it was a nice break. With the weird weather, most people didn’t dare go outside. Being from New York, a little ice rain doesn’t really stop me from doing whatever I need to do so going about my day was normal.

This Fashionista did not let the bizarre weather stop her from looking adorable! I love the combination of all the colors and patterns; her outfit reminds me of bundling up back home. To me, combat boots are a staple for any outfit and for every wardrobe, and being a shoe lover only fuels that. I feel shoes can completely change any outfit so your shoes can say a lot. This Fashionista’s buckled combat boots were a style I haven’t seen yet in Savannah and they really caught my eye. It’s always refreshing to see a new take on a classic piece, and it’s obvious these boots can be styled in any way. The buckles would make most people go for an edgier look, but she made them feminine. Her cute skirt and haircut make her look super sweet showing that combat boots can be girly! Bloomingdale’s has this similar styled combat in black and brown.

I love the color of her scarf because it makes the knit great for winter and that cooler just-turned-spring weather. Nordstrom has a great scarf with a beautiful blue print that would be great for spring and even cooler summer days. Her olive green coat completes her warm winter outfit. You know how sometimes you just feel cold looking at how someone’s dressed? Well this outfit makes me feel cozy and bundled up so it’s safe to say she dressed right for the weather. This Fashionista is ready for some warmer temperatures!

Spotted: Combat boots are not a new trend, Charlotte Ronson’s spring/summer 2011 line used buckled boots to style the looks.
