I remember a conversation I was having with my friend when winter was still weeks away and we thought (and hoped) that the warm weather would never end. We were discussing the struggles we have when trying to put together an appropriate outfit for a night out and the weather is telling us to stay in. I recall myself saying something about getting a cute coat. Well, those winter days are here, and we’ve been going out regardless of the weather conditions. Below freezing temperatures haven’t stopped us from going out at night, and it hasn’t stopped us from going to class during the day either, although we wish it had.
The key to being fashionable and warm is all in the coat. I don’t know about you guys, but in the winter my coat is like my second home; I am always in it. A winter coat needs to be cozy, warm and cute, of course. A lot of thought goes into buying a winter coat because it has to last the whole season and many seasons in the future. It also has to work with the rest of your accessories. A down coat covers up your outfit, but it leaves your shoes, handbag, hats, gloves and scarves out in the open, so it better be cute enough to match a variety of different items.
I could tell this week’s Fashionista put some thought into her winter coat. I spotted her striding confidently down the sidewalk while listening to some tunes on her iPhone. I hated interrupting her music session, but the coat made me do it. I couldn’t resist the black toggle closures against the olive green color. Usually I’m not a fan of puffy parkas in the winter, mostly because they make me look like a marshmallow, but her version is an exception. The toggle detail and fur hood make it stylish and fit for a true Fashionista. I would say she succeeded in finding a cute winter coat. The details make it unique and the color keeps it interesting.
Spotted: Unique and stylish toggle coats were seen going down the Burberry Prorsum pre-fall 2012 runway.
