Finally, some sun! I understand the necessity of April showers, but a Fashionista needs consistent sunlight. Not only am I tired of ruining shoes after shoes or sitting uncomfortably in damp footwear throughout class, but until now, we haven’t had the chance to show off fashion’s sassiest accessory: sunglasses.
I love sunglasses because they are probably the only accessory that’s most reflective of one’s personality. The John Lennon style is reminiscent of boho chic, i.e. Vanessa Hudgen’s Coachella fashion prowess, the classic black cat eye channels the elegant Aubrey Hepburn, wayfarer Ray-Ban definitely scream Reservoir Dogs and heart-shaped or flower-rimmed glasses remind us of the early 2000s. Picture The Devil Wears Prada’s Meryl Streep; as stunningly chic as her wardrobe was, it was definitely those shades that struck fear of almighty god into her interns.
Sunglasses instantly make the wearer not only look more intimidating, but chic beyond measure. I am personally obsessed with this Fashionista’s weapon (shades) of choice. They’re not quite “Meryl mean” but they’re a bold accessory, not one easily pulled off by just anyone. Like I said, sunglasses are reflective of one’s personality and even at first glance, you feel confidence radiating off of her. It takes a true Fashionista to pull off these cat eye-inspired, tortoise shell framed glasses with a gold chain detailing for the temples.
This Fashionista’s entire ensemble resonates with this classic yet chic aesthetic; while she’s undoubtedly the best dressed in class today, those sunglasses give this look the bit of attitude every Fashionista’s wardrobe needs.
