ACCESSORIES REPORT: This One is for the Boys

Accessories Report

Surprise everyone! I am giving the Fashionistas a break because its time for a Fashionisto to take over the spotlight. So welcome boys, and please pay close attention because it’s time to get into a style guide for you young men!

Before we get into the details of what to wear and how accessorize, let me just say that as time changes so should your wardrobe. When your a late teen or in your early 20s, your closet should be making the transition to more mature wear. Now I don’t mean custom suits and imported silk ties, but items like button-downs, loafers and a pair of dark jeans.

I thinks it’s safe to assume that most of you boys have a few button-downs, a nice pair of jeans and some good dress shoes but to look sharp and stylish you’ll need to advance them. That’s right, say goodbye to Hollister and Abercrombie and hello to brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.

The best way to transform your closet is by diversifying it- taking the same casual level of dress that most young men wear and then adding some new accessories to sharpen it up. For example, our Fashionisto is accessorizing this casual look with his olive Komono watch. A watch doesn’t need to be surrounded in diamonds or have 16 dials, but it should sync up with your lifestyle.

Like any other piece in your wardrobe, your watch needs to make sense with the rest of what your wearing. This style watch works with this look because its fabric and not leather, it adds the flair but doesn’t make it too stuffy. When it comes to picking it out the right type of watch just ask yourself whether your gonna be dressing up in a suit or just going to class.

Now that you have a brief guide on how to wear a watch, lets move to the next accessory our Fashionisto is wearing, the shoes. The right pair can make or break a look and with all the different styles of shoes it can be hard to figure out what to wear. This Ralph Lauren shoe is the perfect example of how to pick out a pair with a good shape. Square-toed, laced up shoes are a no go, because they look cheap. For a more masculine pair that is still stylish- look for a slim, rounded toe shoe like this pair from Ralph Lauren. This type of shoe can be very dressy or casual, our Fashionisto is keeping it casual by cuffing his pant legs.

Coats and jackets also play a big role when it comes to diversifying your closet. Keep thick winter coats for when you really need it but add blazers and sports jackets for the fall and spring. Throwing a casual jacket like this Fashionisto’s Calvin Klein, upgrades the look.
