Some colors can very easily overpower an outfit, but when packed in small punches — they can easily and effectively brighten it. A clear perpetrator of this is bright pink. This Fashionista applies it sparingly and successfully to her ensemble! Her black, short-sleeved romper is the perfect neutral base for any bright color, and is equally complimented by her black knitted beanie; creating continuance and cohesion. Her quilted black Chanel bag adds a touch of sophistication and glamour to this daytime ensemble. I have always loved the chained straps on Chanel handbags. These straps tend to act like an extra piece of jewelry; a great replacement for a necklace when a scarf is being worn.
More importantly — let us discuss pink. Pink has always been one of my favorite colors growing up, but I can admit that there is a tacky aspect to it (especially when paired in large quantities alongside black). This Fashionista admitted to her own pink obsession, while still keeping a level head about using it. The flowery scarf she sports eases us into a contrast of texture and fabric against the blocks of black. The fabric drapes easily, and it lessens the harsh variation between the tones. This Fashionista had color coordinated her kate spade watch and Marc by Marc Jacobs iPad case with impressive accuracy. Luckily for this Fashionista, the pink and black combination she chose also boosted her tan — an extra little tip for anyone who’s trying to fake the sun kissed look this winter.
Spotted: In fall 2012, Chanel designed a beautiful array of knotted multicolored scarves. Their versatility is evident, and can be applied effectively throughout all seasons.
