Can’t you all remember when you were little and you would stay at your Grandma’s house? She would bake your favorite cookies; the sweet smell of them would just fill the house from floor to ceiling. You can also remember her old upholstered couch in the good living room, the bright colors and mammoth rose patterns were your second home. You can even remember playing dress up in her closet and trying on all the old family heirloom jewelry that made you feel like a queen.
There is something about vintage pieces that always take us back to our past. The past can be your childhood or memories of stories you heard at family dinners. From your Grandma’s cookies to college life, we keep memories forever, they can even transpose into our style! After spotting this Fashionista I was amazed by all her vintage inspired pieces. From head to toe, she infused my happy memories.
The dress this Fashionista’s wearing is short. sweet and to the point, from the length to cut. This little number is ultra feminine in hot red and a cosmic floral pattern. Textiles play a very large part in designing a garment, and this piece is very much inspired by chintz, with large roses, hydrangeas or peonies.
The accessories this Fashionista is sporting even further remind me of the treasures I once played with as a child. You feel the past upwell from her silver sparkle T-straps to her wicker and patent leather purse. Even this Fashionista’s jewelry was a sweet homage from her grandma’s old jewelry with ’50s inspired studs. Lastly her ring was a gold monogrammed piece with the initials of her Grandpa and Grandma.
No matter how we remember it, we will always have the past to draw upon. Telling a story keeps a memory alive, but sometimes wearing your past on your sleeve makes it all the more realistic.
