As one year closes, a new year of fashion opens, and the best way to celebrate that is to go shopping. As I celebrated the new styles by shopping over the holidays, I saw one thing that really caught my eye. It was colorful, easy to wear and could be found in almost every store I went. This one item I found myself going back for again and again was the kimono. Honestly, I couldn’t get enough of it. Needless to say, when I returned to school to find out that the rest of campus had also jumped on the kimono bandwagon, I was ecstatic.
This far-east trend has made its way onto college campuses everywhere and is perfect for just about every occasion. Whether you wanted to dress up a little black dress, throw it on over a casual tank or even wear it to the beach as a cover up, this kimono is the perfect go-to accessory. This Fashionista wears it with a simple black tank and classic jeans. This is the perfect outfit to showcase her unique kimono cardigan and it’s also a great display of how to dress it up. Pairing it with booties and some chunky jewelry makes it a great nighttime look that anyone can pull off.
Come spring time, I have a feeling this trend will really take off. Since it’s light enough for the sunny daytime, yet chic and warm enough for a night on the town, I can’t see it being anything other than a huge hit. I mean, what screams spring better than an Asian-inspired cardigan with florals and fringe?
