Surprise! I won’t be talking about distressed denim cut-offs this week. Instead, I was much more attracted to the idea of bold simplicity. There’s something about a black and white color scheme that is so classically modest while still making a strong statement. This Fashionista played with the trend by adding some little color pops here and there with accessories and a killer pair of shoes.
I was pleased to learn that this Fashionista is a lover of cinema and culture from the ’20s, especially Charlie Chaplin. With this look, she could be a leading lady in a modern-day Chaplin film. Her crisp white blouse, black circle skirt and sweet oxford shoes create a perfect summer internship ensemble, as well. It works well for the dinner and drinks you’re going to want after a long day at the office, too.
Accessories-wise, this Fashionista kept it simple yet bold with a pair of black sunglasses and a statement necklace. To break up the black and white, she opted for a gold, tiered necklace with turquoise accents. It provides the perfect subtle color pop against her white blouse. I adore the silver accents on her black oxford shoes. It’s always cool to incorporate some menswear-inspired elements to your look.
Spotted: Ever wonder what I daydream about? Elie Saab’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection is probably the closest you’ll ever get to actually being inside of my head. All of those bold colors, ombré gowns, fur and florals…I think I’m actually obsessed. Saab calls the collection Dark Opulence, otherwise known as a synonym for my life.
