This week out Fashionista is very chic for spring. She keeps a neutral black and grey color scheme and has on some amazing accessories to dress up her outfit. Now if you were like me, you had at least three pairs of jelly sandals in every glittery color when you were a kid. They were the perfect sandal and were so fun. The best thing about them is that they are back and chicer than ever. The resurgence in popularity of the jelly is amazing. You can find them in just as many colors as you could as a kid and even better, they fit adults now too. For my spring wardrobe I went with a black pair, a clear glitter pair and a fun color.
Although jellies are considered a sandal, and some may say that socks with sandals are a fashion faux pas, I say that jellies look great with all kinds of socks. Our Fashionista paired hers with a black knee high sock, perfectly complimenting her circle skirt and the cool weather in the city. Another great look is the jellies with a light lace sock, or even just a basic tall ankle sock. Whichever you choose, sock or bare, these jellies are a great spring shoe.
As for the amazing arm party our Fashionista has on, she pairs some eclectic jewelry with some unexpected pieces. She has stacked a few rings on her fingers, these can be picked up at any local street market or vintage shop, just keep your eyes open for them. On her wrists, our Fashionista has on some great beaded bracelets, you could DIY some similar ones or pick some up at a local jewelry store. Finally she also has on an amazing scrunchie, American Apparel has her sunflower pattern as well as tons of other looks and sizes to choose from.
This Fashionista has a pair of classic round sunglasses on as well as a great felt hat. Her vintage Louis Vuitton backpack is the perfect spring handbag for the city that any Fashionista would love.
My challenge to you this week is to bring some ’90s inspiration into your everyday outfits. You can ad a pair of jellies to an already great spring look, tie your hair up with a scrunchie you picked up at the store or figure out another way to incorporate the resurgence of ’90s style into your life.
Spotted: Lots of ’90s inspiration on the Ashish spring 2013 ready-to-wear runway. The collection had lots of tall socks, oversized scrunchies and overalls that looked great on the runway. Any Fashionista can use the collection as modern inspiration for a ’90s look!
