I am so ready to step into spring for many reasons: the pastel colors, the promise that comes with new life, the fresh blooms and, of course, the fashion! If our recent eighty degree days have anything to say, it’s that spring and all its beauty has finally made its way to San Diego. The arrival of this season means shining sun, lazy days at La Jolla Shores and the oncoming of our SunGod festival. Luckily for me, it also means the reappearance of Triton style mavens donning my favorite springtime trends.
One of my favorite warm weather trends would definitely be the strappy, gladiator sandals. These shoes seem to spring up (pun totally intended) year after year as the weather grows warmer. They are unique in that depending upon the specific pair, they can be neutral and understated or bold and bright. There are many variations of the gladiator sandal design, and even when neutral, these shoes are detailed enough to be eye-catching.
I found this Fashionista at Porter’s Pub, and was drawn immediately to her chic ensemble as a whole. However, I was especially drawn to her covet-worthy shoes. She wears a pair of strappy black sandals that manage to be understated, detailed and intricate all at once. These shoes act perfectly not only as a complement to the neutral colors of her top and sweater, but also as a contrast to her jewel-toned skirt. Her sandals fall seamlessly in step with the effortlessness of her outfit; consisting of a classic striped shirt, a simple black cardigan and the outfit’s statement piece — a maxi skirt in a gorgeous emerald green. This look as a whole reminded me of something that would be seen on a Parisian street: magnifique!
Ready to embrace this strappy sandal trend? If you’re a bit nervous to wear this detailed shoe, borrow a fashion tip from our stylish Fashionista, and start by trying a neutral pair with a simple design. These shoes don’t have to be overly elaborate to be chic! Gladiator sandals in colors like black, cognac and beige will accent your outfit but aren’t overly bold or attention-drawing. Match a basic pair with jeans, a dress or a longer skirt for a classic, put together look. Want to make these shoes the focal point of an outfit? With gladiator sandals, it’s easy to be a little daring! You can play with intricate detail, color and height. Try a neon or knee-high pair for a dauntless look.
Whatever pair you choose, these amazing sandals will help you step into spring the right way!
