When many of us think of fashion, we think couture, high heels, long dresses and lots of oomph, but active wear is becoming a huge part of the industry as well. This week’s Fashionista is sporting her athletic accessories, and dressing up her workout outfit to look like a chic and fit Fashionista.
She masters the fall layering with two jackets, the bottom is an athletic zip-up jacket, you can find a simple one here. On top of her athletic jacket, she has on an army green military jacket, similar to this one. The athletic wear works nicely with the military jacket to give her outfit a little bit of pizzazz while still sticking with her sporty theme. She has on a headband, similar to these found at lululemon, a popular active wear brand. She also has on a popular pair of Nike running shoes – the brand makes many different types of athletic tennis shoes, such as the popular Nike Frees and the Nike Shox. Although our Fashionista works her outfit with a darker, pastel color scheme, neon athletic wear is very popular as well, in any season.
The recent popularity of the athletic wear accessories is great because not only can you look chic, you can be in total comfort while doing so. The shoes are very supportive which makes them great for any New York student. My challenge to you this week is to pick out your favorite active wear outfit and then add some accessories that you wouldn’t use at the gym, like a fun jacket or cute scarf. It’s fun to mix up styles and be comfortable while doing so.
Spotted: Emma Mulholland incorporates active wear into her fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection. The use of neon and leggings as well as shorts gives the collection a sporty, and edgy look.
