Peanut butter and jelly. Mindy Lahiri and Danny Castellano. Maxi dresses and summer. At first, these dynamic duos may have seemed slightly ridiculous, but eventually the world warmed up to them. There is something powerful about the pairing up of two basic entities in order to create something special. And because of that, I am not looking forward to a world where Lagerfeld is no longer the creative director of Chanel. Just don’t let me read the news that day. With such strong pairings, it becomes clear that one without the other doesn’t seem right.
Much like these other pairings, socks and boots have undoubtedly become this season’s dynamic duo. All over Union College’s campus, students have been coupling their winter boots with thick socks. It creates the ultimate combination for winter. This Fashionista caught on to the trend and decided to implement it into her own ensemble. The little addition to the outfit created a unique dimension and illustrated the stylistic power of layering. Her socks would have looked just as nice with booties, high-top sneakers or oxfords. Any footwear would work, but this Fashionista’s brown combat boots are especially functional and trendy. Best of all, your feet will never get cold.
Also, don’t be afraid to take a fashion risk and utilize a bold colored or printed sock as a statement. The Fashionista’s thick aqua blue socks added a pop of color to her dark ensemble, keeping it fresh and light. Other in style options includes stripes, polka-dots, frilly and animal-inspired prints. Be sure to pick up a pair that suits your personal style but also allows you to take a fashion risk. Socks are a great way to accessorize any wintertime footwear.
Along with the Fashionista’s sock and boot combination, she added dainty jewelry and a red knit cap to further accessorize her ensemble. Overall, her layered look was trendy and featured the winter’s best dynamic duo, socks and boots.
