Stealing clothes from your boyfriend has never been so fashionable. In fact, nicking clothes from your man became so popular that a trend developed, giving birth to pieces of clothing such as “boyfriend jeans” and shirts with “boyfriend fit.” There’s another item of clothing hidden in the depths of your boyfriend’s closet that is just as stylish on girls as it is on guys—caps. This Fashionista did just that and donned a cap for a fashionable skater-esque outfit.
Now, those who follow my articles (which is all of you reading right now, I’m sure) know that I love hats, in any way, shape or form. They spice up any outfit. But more important, they hide unwashed, unruly and unkempt hair. Hats are a godsend for the days where you pulled an all-nighter and slept through your alarm, to the days where the festivities from the prior night renders you in no condition to take a shower in the morning. They transform those less than desirable hair days into stylish outfits that appear to be thrown together nonchalantly. Caps are a common thing in most guys’ wardrobes and oh-so-easy to snatch and plop on your head. They also add a certain level of street to the outfit.
With fall fast approaching, this Fashionista’s cap will keep her hair from looking Medusa-esque as windy and rainy days grace Vancouver. A touch of femininity is added to her outfit with the classic little black dress. She not only matches the color scheme with her oversized plaid shirt and cap but also the overall theme of tomboy.
Go digging around in your boyfriend/friend’s closets for a cap to create a casual look as stylish as this Fashionista. Or instead of borrowing your guy’s cap, try a fun, graphic version.
Spotted: Many designers are jumping on the cap bandwagon for their resort 2014 collections. Max Mara features caps prominently in the collection while DKNY mixes both girly and boyish perfectly in many of their looks.
