Accessories Report

As the flowers are blossoming here in Boston, so are the wardrobes of every student on campus. We have all officially packed away our black parkas and brought out our lightweight and colorful clothing. While on my way to cram for finals, I spotted this Fashionista sporting more color than most on campus. This Northeastern sophomore was also headed to the library wearing a Zara button-down top, Forever 21 lace shorts, Sam Edelman boat shoes and handmade jewelry.

Jewelry can cost thousands of dollars, but, as a college student, my budget it limited to the jewelry sections of off-price retailers like T.J.Maxx and stores like H&M. These stores are filled with some of spring’s hottest trends like bib necklaces and chokers. As many students are getting in touch with their inner ’90s Fashionista/Fashionisto, chokers are becoming another large trend. This time around, they are not limited to stretchy kind made of alloy. This hot trend is back at full force and in many innovative forms.

Although we would all love to custom make our own jewelry, students do not always have the time to do so. This means that we are all quick to hit the mall in search for something pre-made and preferably fewer than twenty dollars. Thankfully, we have stores like Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters to save us the time and effort. Jump into spring with a trendy new necklace to kick-start your venture into the brighter and showier accessory trends.

Spotted: Lanvin’s fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection featured numerous chunky necklaces that steal the attention of every person in the audience.
