One of the most crucial summertime accessories are sunglasses. Not only do they add another layer of style to your look but they also block harmful UV rays. For those who are not visually impaired and do not wear regular glasses they are yet another accessory to add to one’s repertoire. I love to pair classic aviator style sunglasses with distressed denim, however this Fashionista effortlessly mixes her dual tone oval frames with a black mullet skirt, a gray T-shirt and green military jacket. The combination was chic and the sunglasses stole the show.
This Fashionista was on her lunch break when I spotted her. The green, black and gray ensemble is a fun look for the office. It combines structure with the vest and fluidity with the loose-fitting T-shirt and billowing mullet skirt. Not to mention the great pop of orange color with this Fashionista’s clutch. The sunglasses mirror this contrasting affect with the green and black two-tone style. The dual colors separate the frames, yet the oval cut provides a break from the geometric structure of the sunglasses.
Urban Outfitters has a large assortment of circular style sunglasses. This cream and black pair would go well with a floral frock or white jeans and a gray T-shirt. They add some structure to your look but the simple colors won’t overwhelm your face or ensemble. However, this retro frame has more going on and would look perfect with a pair of blue jeans and a light knit. This trend makes a statement no matter how you style it. Embrace the oversized frames and play around with the proportions of your other pieces. If you’re opting for a larger lens, try a skinny jean or form-fitting top. This way your look won’t be overwhelming or unflattering. Above all play around with the colors and don’t be afraid to stand out!
Spotted: Gucci embodied the multi-color oval frames in the brands spring 2013 read-to-wear collection.
