Besides the date, the only thing that indicates a little bit of spring in the air is when the sun occasionally peaks out from behind the clouds to grace us with a little bit of warmth. Although it might not feel or look like spring outside, we can still act like there’s a spring in our step. It’s still too chilly to walk outside without a jacket, (at least in Missouri) so why don’t we put a springy twist on our outerwear while it’s still necessary. I’ve talked about a number of accessories that can brighten up our winter ensembles; why not one more?
As the weather is trying to warm up, it might be hard for some of us to break our usual winter routine of wearing shades of black and other dark colors. A way out of this predicament is in what you put over your outfit. Yes, a jacket might hide what’s underneath, but it is also like a second outfit. Most people wear black coats, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you want to contrast a black ensemble, then a colorful jacket is the way to go. This week’s Fashionista is wearing a bright color that is perfect for spring: sea foam green. While not a neutral color, this pastel shade of green can go with other neutral accessories, like this Fashionista’s bag.
Not only can sea foam green go with black and other neutral colors, but it also looks great with other pastels. Imagine a a sea foam green blazer with a light pink, silk tank underneath; totally cute and perfect for a spring night. Or picture this Fashionista’s peacoat with some pastel purple ballet flats and a pair of ankle length skinny jeans… I’d wear that for sure.
Spotted: Sea foam colored accessories were spotted on Jenni Kayne‘s runway for her 2013 resort collection.
