When I first sat down to write this post I couldn’t help but feel it was full of endings. This is my final accessories report, which means not only is my internship over but so is my summer. I also took this picture outside of a Chipotle, where I had my last meal before I got my wisdom teeth out the next morning. (Three cheers for pain killers!) I had been harboring a feeling of dread regarding these things for a while, especially the surgery.
Now however, as I endure this recovery process before I go back to school, I realize I have been going about these things all wrong. This surgery was simply a hurdle that I, like many others, had to overcome. With it behind me, I no longer have to worry and I can simply focus on getting better. As for the internship, it isn’t really an ending but the start of many new opportunities. This experience has helped me gain valuable knowledge that I can continue to use as I work towards my dreams.
The end of summer also signals the beginning of fall, which just so happens to be my favorite season. The weather gave us a bit of a “fall preview” the other day and so did this Fashionista with her outfit. She paired her grey tank top with a white button-up, demonstrating that your summer shirts can transition to fall with a bit of simple layering. By rolling up her sleeves she managed to keep things casual. Her black skinny pants are a must have item for fall as they match just about anything and can easily be tucked into boots.
Boots are my favorite type of shoes to wear in the colder months. They keep your feet warm while still looking stylish. I thought it very fitting that this Fashionista chose to wear combat boots the night before I had to face a small battle of my own. But whether you are going to battle or going to class (which can sometimes be a battle itself), combat boots are a great way for you to add some edge to any look. I like pairing mine with more feminine pieces to help tone them down. If you’re not sure about toughness of these boots, try a pair in brown for a less intimidating look.
Just remember Fashionista’s, with each new battle comes new opportunities. I now have the chance to go back to school and work on replacing all the wisdom I just lost!
Spotted: Véronique Leroy showed us both layering and combat boots in her fall 2012 ready-to-wear show.
