There is one accessory that every Fashionista and Fashionisto needs: sunglasses.
I, personally, have at least four pairs. And truly, you can never have too many. Each style of sunglasses can accent different style outfits. The best ones are the ones that complement any outfit. For example, Ray-Bans frames have become the epitome of a casual, hipster vibe. Large oversized sunglasses, often bigger than necessary, are synonymous with fashion icons (Rachel Zoe and Jackie O, for example) and celebrities hiding from the paparazzi. Aviators are also a popular trend that is no longer just for pilots. Round sunglasses, like this Fashionista’s, are my current favorite, however.
She pairs these frames seamlessly with her vintage-style ensemble! Her Reiss top already has a fresh, modernized tie-dye effect and wearing it buttoned all the way up is the key to achieving the retro look. Combined with a simple black skirt and ballet flats, with minimal jewelry, this is a trouble-free look for class that is comfortable yet stylish. The neon pink nail polish was a fabulous touch too!
But back to the sunglasses, frames like these are easy to find anywhere you look! There is a vast selection available at retailers like Forever 21, but you can also find higher quality shades at department stores or online. However, for those of us on a college budget, and perhaps those of us who like to claim they’ve got the “real deal,” the best place to look is a thrift shop! Vintage stores are overflowing with old pairs of sunglasses that so many of our moms unfortunately gave away. If only they had kept their ‘90s overalls too! Vintage fashion is making a comeback and it has been on its way for some time now; so don’t give up on your jelly sandals just yet.
