ACCESSORIES REPORT: Powerfully Plaid

Accessories Report

The trees are looking barren, and the chill is picking up in our midst. Our steps become quicker and quicker, going from building to building on campus, being pushed by the wind. Staying bundled up is key, and that lightweight, chiffon scarf will do no good in this weather. The plaid scarf is a powerfully practical accessory to have on this fall as the weather gets cooler. Most plaid scarves are made of thick cotton, wool or wool-blend, keeping us snug as a bug in a rug. It’s irrational to not maximize our options for keeping warm. What better combo than a thick scarf and hot coffee for those early morning classes?

This Fashionista styled her scarf with an asymmetrical sweater, black denim and wedge booties. The pink and black plaid scarf was an outstanding match for her neutral pieces of clothing. In our modern age, where black is a favorite color, the scarf and pants are a great pair without being too coordinated. Brown suede wedge booties gave a classy comfort to this cozy look.

Like this Fashionista, pair a plaid wool scarf with an oversized solid colored sweater. Not to mention that the plaid scarf looks wonderful under a military jacket. To try something more daring and fun, wear your plaid scarf with a metallic sweatshirt or leather pants. The most fun about such a simple accessory is making it your own!

Spotted: The Elder Statesman had a large pink plaid scarf in their spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection. The plaid scarf is a necessity for every Fashionista’s closet.
