Raise your hand if you are sad that spring break is actually over. It is finally spring here in New Hampshire and I am ecstatic about that. I can almost say it is about time when all snow boots can be put away and the flats and boat shoes can be dusted off and worn again. It has not snowed, just some rain and humidity, but I will surely take it. All the Fashionistas here at UNH are sporting vests and awesome accessories, or I can actually see them now because before they were under all of the heavy coats. This Fashionista is introducing dressy to casual by pairing pearls and gold with her outfit.
Spring colors should be seen all over campus. I am not talking about green grass and pink flowers, I am talking about spring colors in people’s outfits. This Fashionista wears a light blue button-down shirt paired with a white vest. Fair colors mean fair weather, right? Her tiny booties keep her feet warm without appearing too bulky or snow boot-like. Vests have been all the craze, and people are not wearing them just as a light coat to walk to class in. A lot of people wear them under their huge coats as a part of their outfit. Her quilted vest really makes the button-down appear more casual. The gold buttons on her vest tie in with the gold accent on her pearl necklace.
Pearls, honestly, match with many things. When you look at this Fashionista, you can not help but notice the pearl necklace she is wearing. She is making a statement with her smaller statement necklace, and as Jackie Kennedy once said, “Pearls are always appropriate.”
Spotted: Pearls are all over the runway in fall 2009. Designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Moschino, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Givenchy and much more featured them in their collections.
