The first few hints of spring have finally begun to show themselves! I admit the mountains of snow covering campus caused my faith in warmer days to waver. However, these days the birds are chirping, the sun beams are shining, the spring sports athletes are breaking a sweat and countless layers of clothing are just unnecessary. Patience is a virtue and this winter most peoples’ patience has been tested. These little springtime pleasantries are exactly the reminder that everyone, including myself, has been needing. Soon we will all be able to say, “spring has sprung!”
This Fashionista’s fabulous footwear is what caught my eye. As the glaciers scattered across campus begin to crumble and melt boots are becoming less and less of a necessity. Yes, boots are completely wonderful but one can only wear boots for so long. I am a believer in the saying, “too much of a good thing is bad.” With that being said, a pair of boat shoes are just to the thing to add some pizazz to your shoe wardrobe and transition out of the frigid cold.
This Fashionista puts a fierce spin on your classic pair of boat shoes. Boat shoes are traditionally a nautical preppy accessory but here they are transformed into something a little different. This pair of cheetah boat shoes with black patent leather detail redefines our usual conception of loafers. They are playful with a hint of sass and make a bold statement with this fun pattern.
If you find yourself looking to slip your feet into something other than boots opt for a pair of boat shoes. Be inspired by this Fashionista’s unique pair and consider rocking your own animal print or vibrant color! My personal favorite are these Sperry Top-Siders with a woven texture.
Spotted: The Tommy Hilfiger spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection also redefines the iconic vision of what is preppy. This collared shirt and bright blue color palette is crisp and clean yet inventive and fresh.
