I am all about the traditional pop of color, especially now that dressing monochromatically is such a big trend. However, the traditional neutral pallet of an outfit that usually warrants one such “pop” is slowly fading out. In its place, not-so-neutral colors are taking center stage with the additional colors now having a more color block effect.
I was able to catch this Fashionista on her way to an event in an adorable Nicole Miller lace dress in a bright royal blue dress. The lace overlay gives a flirty and light feel, while the modest neckline, cap sleeves and slip keep it professional and modest.
What really makes this whole ensemble so eye-catching is the amazing hot pink Coach cross-body bag. Not only does this pop of color entice the eye for its sheer vibrancy, but it is also the perfect contrast and complement between the beautiful royal blue color of the dress.
Paired with nude heels, this outfit is pretty much perfect for any occasion, whether dressed up like this Fashionista, or dressed down with some cute sandals and an army vest. If you want to have your pop a different way, try a vibrant belt cinching your waist, or my favorite, some neon jewelry like this gorgeous necklace from luxury jeweler DanniJo. If all you can do is lust after DanniJo jewelry (like me,) try websites like Etsy to find great steals like this necklace.
Spotted: Diane won Furstenberg definitely embraced the neon and bright combination in her spring/summer 2013 show. Although I envy and lust after every item, one that stood out especially in this Fashionista’s context was the third-to-last look; a neon yellow gown paired with a vibrant blue bag. Much like this Fashionista, the look was grounded by some nude heels.
