It might be a few months early in the year for March Madness to start, but it’s never too soon to spot Fashionistas in the heat of what I like to call “Military Madness”. Military Madness has Fashionistas going mad for the best pair of combat boots they can find whether it be in a classic black or my favorite, a brown or tan. This act of madness is seasonless and can be seen on Fashionistas from the cold winter months of January all the way to tailgate season in September, paired with a great pair of shorts and a flannel. This week’s Fashionista however, pulled off the combat boots in the midst of winter; pairing it with the ever-notorious army green and faux leather jacket making her ensemble even more of a military vibe.
It’s crazy to think something that was originally created for people in battle fighting for our country has now been brought into our daily wardrobes on campus. What I love most about this trend is that it was mainly worn by a larger percentage of men than women and yet now it’s women who prominently wear this style of clothing. With just a few key pieces and accessories we can turn our outfits into our own version of a fashion forward military look, as seen on this Fashionista.
As previously mentioned, combat boots are the must-have accessory when it comes to pulling off the military look. This accessory ties the whole outfit together and are often the focal point. Remember Fashionistas, it’s all about dressing from head to toe! Combat boots have appeared in a multitude of brands’ footwear collections, but one of the most affordable and most known for carrying this style of boots in a variety of colors is Steve Madden. His use of the inside zipper is always a great touch to add character to the boot.
Another strong component to making this look complete and pulled together is her Alexander Wang Rocco bag. This accessory adds edge and attitude to the outfit through the use of the studded embellishment on the bottom. It’s the perfect size to carry your essential belongings and notebook to class and around campus. Why use a backpack when you have this chic alternative?
The last accessory that this Fashionista was sporting that caught my eye was her rose gold Michael Kors watch. Sometimes arm candy only has to be one statement piece and she pulled it off perfectly with this timeless watch. Try rolling the sleeves of your jacket like this Fashionista to show off your watches and bracelets while carrying your statement bag.
So Fashionistas, search the web for your year-round to die for combat boots, and pair it with a great green jacket, statement edgy bag and the most functional accessory of all- a watch.
Spotted: Yves Saint Laurent fall 2013 collection featured and pulled off the use of combat boots with dresses and skirts. Try purchasing a pair of combats that have buckles as seen on the runway.
