Standing out from a crowd of monochromatic grey, this week’s Fashionista beat the winter blues with several pops of color. Putting together an outfit with several bright or pastel hues is very similar to creating a piece of art. You have to combine your colors in a way that complement one another. Designers often pair together purple and orange, red and purple, navy and yellow and, one of my favorite combinations, coral and orange. Wearing warm and cool hues creates a fashion statement that may seem intimidating, but incorporating pops of color can transform your style.
The safest way to add to your “art” is to start with a neutral color; the neutral will act as a canvas for the colors. This Fashionista chose a black heart print cap sleeve dress. She accessorized the dress with the popular yellow bubble necklace, a skinny baby blue knotted belt and electric pink tights. Black is great because it works well with any color. The print dress is the perfect match with the bright accessories because the dress isn’t a multi-colored print. If your base piece is multi-colored, try to stick with a palette similar to a shade in your garment.
While accessorizing with jewelry, belts and shoes are fun, but makeup brings in a whole new dimension to your look. Playing with lipstick shades is another way to add color. When choosing a bright color, like the bubblegum pink shade our Fashionista is wearing, keep the rest of your makeup minimal. Fashion is supposed to be fun, so be daring and throw a little extra color onto your masterpiece.
