ACCESSORIES REPORT: Mad Hatter

Accessories Report

Spring is finally starting to arrive in Evanston and it’s about time. Although spring may still mean some snow on the ground, I think we can be pretty confident that the polar vortex won’t be visiting us again any time soon. This means it’s time to dig your hats, sunglasses and other favorite spring accessories out of the back of your closets!

This Fashionista’s outfit is ideal for the transitional period between the seasons. She’s still rocking black leggings and boots, but she has shed her winter coat and brought out her fun, floppy hat. It’s perfect for her last day on campus before spring break!

Just by looking under the “women’s hats and hair accessories” title on Nordstrom website, I can already tell that floppy and wide-brimmed hats are going to be popular this season. My favorites among the selection are this timeless stone wash sun hat in coffee and this kate spade new york ‘fancy’ bow hat. A hat is the perfect staple for spring whether you’re heading to tea at the Drake, going to the Kentucky Derby or simply walking along Lake Michigan.

While winter accessories are all about utility and warmth, spring accessories are all about playfulness. If you’re not a hat person, there’s still plenty more in store for you. Think about wearing colorful statement necklaces like this neon totem collar from BaubleBar. You can also try bags with appealing images on them like this kate spade new york tote. Still need some warmth? Opt for a linen patterned scarf like this Jonathan Adler chevron one. I can’t wait to see all of the fun pieces people are going to be wearing now that they won’t have to worry about a winter coat hiding it all!

Spotted: Dolce&Gabbana always has fun, bright pieces in their spring collections. You’ll see some adorable floppy straw hats in their spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. Also, be sure to check out the variety of colors and patterns in their spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection.
