ACCESSORIES REPORT: Look At Me Now

Accessories Report

One of the best things about writing for CollegeFashionista is finding new ideas, taking them and getting creative with them. Just because I’m reporting on the trends does not mean I myself am not learning something new. I found this Fashionista as I was leaving the quad and walking to my car after a long Tuesday. If I may add before I get to my main point, I’d note that I love her coat and her high-knee knit socks under her boots. Her black ruffle collared peacoat is also to die for. But, what got my attention about this Fashionista was those retro red sunglasses pressed against her face.

I myself have always been about keeping my coat and scarf combination very minimal when it comes to colors.  However, whoever said you can’t add color to your season greeting? Those of you who have been keeping up with my blog posts since the beginning already know that I am a big fan of having clothes reflect your personality. I think it’s safe to say that this Fashionista’s sunglasses reflect her fun loving character and that someone is ready for a fast approaching spring.

Keeping your shades to a one tone color is perfectly fine. What I would love to encourage out of all of you, and myself, is to find a pair of retro shades that are out of your typical shape selection. Whether it is a wider frame or a dramatic size lens, pick an odd shaped frame that accentuates not only your face, but also your personality. What seems to be currently buzzing around this year is the idea of the cat eye sunglasses. This is a very trendy and sophisticated look. Most of these colors are neutral, which would look fantastic with a bright colored lipstick. But for all you brave souls who see those colorful sunglasses calling your name, what are you waiting for? Go for it!

Spotted: Christian Dior sported retro red sunglasses in the spring 2011 ready-to-wear line. Opening Ceremony also showed red sunglasses in their fall 2012 ready-to-wear line.
