A few weeks ago, my mom and I were having mother-daughter time at a new shopping plaza that recently opened in my hometown. Most of the day was spent at one of our favorite stores, Madwell. We were in the back corner looking at jewelry (right next to the jeans on sale…) and it felt like hours of trying on various rings, bracelets and necklaces. My mom’s style is a little bit more reserved than mine, as one would assume given that she’s my mom. However, in contrast to my last article on statement pieces, I noticed that most of the jewelry was more on the dainty side. Delicate necklaces, thin bracelets and simple rings were the pieces caught our eye. Even my mom approved of the piles of rings and bracelets being worn at the same time because it didn’t look “tacky” (in her eyes… we even ended up getting matching ring stacks). As fabulous as a bold necklace can be, sometimes less can definitely be more.
This week’s Fashionista definitely showed why less can definitely be more. A horizontal stripped shirt, a springy jacket and jeans have just that little something extra with cool leather booties and dainty layered necklaces. Classic pieces like her silver necklaces will never go out of style. Don’t be afraid to stack up pieces like this either, it will never look bad! I think the more simplistic jewelry is perfect because anyone can pull it off—my mom and I are perfect examples of this!
Spotted: Dainty doesn’t have to just apply to jewelry. Osman’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection highlights dainty purses as well. Less really can be more.
