I believe I was in the second grade when I learned to tie my shoes. Make the bunny ears, wrap around and pull them tight… We all had our tricks. I do the same moves now when I pull the strings on my classic black Converse high-tops, or when I struggle with the wire-like ties on my favorite wedge booties. Lace-up shoes are a personal favorite of mine, and with snow boot season rapidly approaching, I know I’ll be tying up my footwear for the next few months.
While we all love our “bean boots” and Sorel snow-durable gear, other cold weather shoes with lace appeal are everywhere. Short and edgy combat boots are an easy pick, but this Fashionista chose to rock a bold knee-high, combat and riding boot cross over while running to and from the library. So often on campus we see a uniform of New England style, but boots like hers are a great way to top off a polished look with just a little hint of edge.
If bringing your laces to new heights doesn’t sound like your style, go the opposite direction. My great kryptonite comes in the form of string bound booties, whether they’re flat or heeled. Something about brown leather with a ropey bow just screams fall to me, this pair of Frye Sabrina 6G ankle boots in particular.
Spotted: In their fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection, Chloé featured numerous pairs of simply adorable lace-up booties, in a variety of styles and fun colors.
