The sun is out, the trees are growing leaves and most Middkids have just barely finished finals. While working outside is now actually possible (thanks, Vermont’s long winters), I personally find it too distracting. I get distracted by the warm sun and soft grass, and the Adirondack chairs we have out on our quads are also a little too conducive to afternoon naps outside, if you ask me. However, the nice weather we’ve been getting only means that everyone finds an excuse to dress up. After all, we just spent six months wearing the same old parkas and coats every day. This Fashionista made quite the sweet but edgy statement with her floral dress and gladiator sandals.
Gladiator sandals come in a variety of heights, but this Fashionista’s ankle-wrapping gladiators are perfect as one of the edgy pieces in her outfit. Gladiators are a great contrast piece to use in a look when you have a girly sweet piece, like this Fashionista’s floral dress. To dress down an outfit, gladiators can also come in handy to make the look seem more casual. This Fashionista paired her gladiators with a jean jacket and a floral dress, creating a perfect balance between girly and casual edgy. A number of fashion bloggers love gladiator sandals as casual accessories—the chunky soles make for a great pairing with boyfriend jeans and a simple T-shirt. I’ve found that gladiators are the epitome of the casual and slightly edgy piece that can be worn basically with any outfit.
Spotted: Gladiator sandals were featured on the Rebecca Minkoff spring 2014 runway.
