A simple vest can really turn up the cool factor in an outfit. Every season we see this staple make a return to the runways of men’s fashion. It can be said that the vest is a timeless wardrobe piece that will stand the test of time and will remain a popular part of dressing up. This week’s Fashionisto is no exception to the timelessness of this trend. He expertly showed how you can turn a basic stripped white T-shirt and jeans into a semi-dressy daytime outfit with the simple addition of a vest.
This Fashionisto’s outfit is great as a back to school outfit. Here he demonstrates that not only is he ready to get back to business this spring semester, he is doing it with style. To recreate this look, start with a basic striped T-shirt. This particular one that he is wearing here has very thin horizontal stripes. You can also go with a shirt that has a thicker stripe. I suggest one with a navy stripe in the nautical trend — this striped trend is one that has stood the test of time as well. For a similar style try this one from Forever 21 in either the gray or blue stripe.
This style wiz amped up the look by adding a silver chain and a square faced silver watch. For a similar take try this silver watch by ASOS as well as this silver River Island bracelet. It is good to note that adding details like this is a sure fire way to demonstrate that you are well put together. Sometimes the best outfits are all in the details. That said I have to mention the footwear. The boots by Timberland are a winter staple here in Middle Tennessee, not only for their versatility but for the style factor as well. A pair in camel can mix and match with many things in a Fashionisto’s wardrobe. The last style details that I want to point out are the Kenneth Cole Reaction belt and the dog tags. Both accessories are very easy ways to add some personality to your look.
Spotted: The Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2013 men’s runway showed the vest being interpreted in many new and traditional ways including an intriguing Navajo print.
