The weather in Savannah was scary gorgeous these last couple days. Never would I have thought that I would be pulling out tanks and shorts in mid-January, but it was very much needed with highs in the 70s. I definitely wasn’t complaining, through. Sunbathing in Forsyth park and beach volleyball was a treat to cap off the first week of classes. I guess Savannah’s bipolar weather has it’s perks.
The Fashionista I caught enjoying the Savannah sun with some friends definitely caught my attention as she subtly took on two of the season biggest trends: neon and studs. This Fashionista is always rocking these two trends so well, especially neon. The day before it was these pink Dr. Martens, and today it’s this neon purse. Her purse stood out to me a block away especially against her contrasting colored outfit. This Fashionista’s black and white tribal printed maxi skirt and sheer black tank top made this block of color an instant eye catcher. Neon already speaks for itself but when paired with neutrals, your eyes gravitate to it more. The Fashionista was also wearing these ballet flats that are sprinkled with studs and glistened every time the sun hit them.
We just can’t get enough of neon and studs again this season. I know you have at least one item in your closet with either trend. If not, you’re lying! There is no possible way. Studs were either on the shoulder of a leather jacket, boots or a purse on every other person I walked past on campus. Nobody can avoid this frenzy. The neon trend that was supposed to stay within the rims of spring and summer has popped up all over the fall runways, more times than a few. Paired with your winter neutrals, leathers or neon on neon, J.Crew, House of Holland and Diane von Furstenberg believe in standing out in bold colors even during the cooler times of year. The one hint about this trend is do it in moderation. No need for several neon pieces on at one time or every part of your outfit being covered in studs. Less is more. Little hints with accessories or detailing is my favorite way to go when it comes to these trends .
Spotted: Versace spring/summer 2012 collection had models carrying neon purses.
