The weather in Florida has been as jolting and disorienting as a wooden roller-coaster ride lately. It went from being rainy and humid, to sunny and gorgeous, to (my least favorite of the three) frigid and cold with a side of rain.
This Fashionista was practically unfazed by the gloomy weather. She managed to stay dry under a big umbrella that was cleverly designed to give the illusion that it’s always sunny with blue skies underneath. Her quirky accessory and contagious smile totally set her apart from everyone in the crowd. This Fashionista showed me how carefree and beautiful you can look when you aren’t getting repeatedly stabbed in the face with tiny rain daggers (see me, simultaneously squinting and furrowing my brow, sans umbrella).
In addition to her cool accessories, the rest of this Fashionista’s outfit was naturally on point. The look gave off a whole, “Look, I can be grungy and trendy while still managing to squeeze in a shower everyday” vibe. She played with layering by starting with a gray graphic tank, adding an oversized plaid button-up and finishing it off with a lovely olive coat to keep her nice and toasty. Her dark stone-wash jeans complement the look flawlessly. They go well with her color scheme and don’t distract in a way that blue denim might. Also, check out those tough-yet-girly combat boots with little crochet detailing on the sides. They’re amazing, especially with the way she messily tucks her jeans into them.
Spotted: Edgy layering and boots can be found all over Thakoon Addition’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection. When the weather finally stabilizes, try layering some unexpected menswear-inspired pieces such as boxy, structured jackets with oxford shirts and short skirts.
