We are all aware that fashion often repeats itself, but it seems as though this year we are seeing numerous trends from the past 200 years making some kind of appearance. Walking down the street feels like you are personally experiencing moments of history — what could be more incredible? When I spotted this Fashionisto rocking his pork pie hat straight from the 1800’s (with a reappearance post-World War II), I knew he’d be a prime subject to inspire both men and women to modernize pieces from multiple generations.
I will forever maintain the theory that if you feel like an outfit is incomplete, you probably need a hat. They have this mystical power to instantly finish off any outfit. Plus, it’s hard to feel anywhere close to ordinary when you’re strutting the streets in a unique hat. If you don’t believe me, try this pork pie hat from Free People. Depending on how you wear it, you could look like a ’40s jazz musician on the run, or a dazzling Fashionisto or Fashionista off to conquer the world. Either way you’re wearing a hat, you’re on the go.
I’ve talked about my love of ’90s grunge quite a bit, but this outfit just sums it up perfectly. The oversized denim jacket has been a huge trend this season. This acid wash jacket from ASOS certainly takes a trip down memory lane for fashion historians. What if you are out and about and a big denim jacket might get too hot? That is not a problem. This Fashionisto grabs his favorite flannel, and wraps it around his waist for safe keeping and extra style. He could easily switch the two up if there was a change in weather. River Island has some of the greatest button-downs that are cozy enough to wear alone, but are decorative enough to tie around your waist as an accessory.
Since we know you are on the go (the hat told us), you have to have the perfect weekender bag to get you through your very hectic life. Let’s face it, us college students can’t go anywhere without every item we own or we’re just lost! We have textbooks, snacks, computers and any other odds and ends we might possibly need in one day. The Fossil Estate duffle is the most timeless bag to get you through college and into your adult life; whether you simply want to be a world traveler or an astute businessman.
This outfit combines all of my favorite things: hats, layers, statement bags all combined to create the perfect vintage revival style that I cherish so dearly. This Fashionisto does all the right things to make it known he is here to make a statement, and he will be heard.
Spotted: Junya Watanabe features the perfect porkie pie hat in her spring 2014 collection. It looks flawless on her female models, but would be pretty flawless on any male Fashionisto who is ready to be bold.
