ACCESSORIES REPORT: Gold in the Cold

Accessories Report

This chilly weather is getting pretty repetitive and so is getting dressed for it in the morning. We layer up, put on our coats, a scarf, hat, earmuffs, thick socks, boots and a good pair of gloves. Yet jewelry often gets forgotten among the endless list of winter accessories. Adding a few gold pieces to an outfit probably adds a minute or two more to your daily routine and can really make you stand out!

This Fashionista adds some glitter to her look by uniquely pairing two gold pieces with other aspects of her outfit. She layers a thick gold chain necklace with an eye-catching lion pendant underneath the navy blue collar of her shirt. This clever idea makes it peak out like a brooch or pin. She then has an actual pin, a beautiful one that looks almost like an pointed infinity sign with a circle in the center, on her black beanie. Since the snug hat matches her hair, the pin perfectly pops out among the black. This Fashionista also does an incredible job at layering for the cold and incorporating other unique accessories into her outfit. She wears a blue collared shirt underneath a green and blue plaid dress, which she wears with a heather gray knit cardigan and a charcoal gray coat. She finishes off the look with maroon buckled boots, color-speckled dark socks and an orange suede saddle bag with fringe that perfectly fits all of the class necessities. She continues the gold trend throughout her outfit with a gold flower on the opening of the bag.

To integrate speckles of gold into your look this winter, search for statement necklaces and bracelets. Rings can get tricky due to gloves but try delicate ones that can fit underneath them for now (or try what I do sometimes and take a statement ring off, put it in your pocket until you get to class and slip it onto your finger when your gloves come off like it was there the whole time). I definitely recommend putting on most of your layers before adding the sparkling gold details to make sure they work with the entire look and don’t get caught when you take your coat off. Also, try being crafty like this Fashionista and attach unique pins to beanies, other solid-colored accessories or a black coat.

This February, think about adding a few gold pieces to your daily outfits and believe me, you’ll get compliments. Everyone loves a little sparkle!
