I know it counts as fall right now, but while the sun is still out we might as well have our toes out too. We have to take advantage of the time we have left to let our feet breath before the cold rolls in. This Fashionista was doing just so when I caught her after our University Fashion Group meeting on campus. Immediately her sandals caught my eye, mainly because the sun glared right off of them…but also because they were just so gosh darn cute.
It was the gold metallic plates that lined her sandals that obviously caught my eye. The plates elevate a more casual sandal and even elevate the entire outfit. Sandals like these can dress up a more casual T-shirt and shorts or even match perfectly with your finer clean cut dresses, just like the Fashionista’s outfit above. The smooth overall shine is a more modern and wearable embellishment versus studs or beading. You could take the whole metallic trend to dazzling show stopper standards or work something more like these polished plated sandals. These sandals offer a cleaner and more wearable day-to-day option for footwear. I’m not saying these sandals are the boring option to more outrageous studded and spiky concoctions of footwear, because this embellishment adds texture and shine instead of just a shoe made of metallic material.
Steve Madden really sought out this twist on metallic shoes. They have a lot of gold plated options including a flat sandal super similar to the one pictured. There is also a gold cuffed wedge option if you want to take this trend out at night with you, which I fully recommend. The gold plated detailing on these sandals will let you shine in any outfit you wear them with and maybe even reflect that last bit of tan left from summer.
Spotted: Roberto Cavalli elevated this trend even more in detail and height. These heels from his spring 2013 collection have a beautiful carved out design on the gold plates.
