Walking quickly on her way to work, I found myself trying to catch up with this Fashionista as she strutted herself down the famous Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia in her dress and sneaker combination. As I stopped her to ask to pose for the camera, I soon became jealous of her comfortable and practical shoes as I wobbled back and worth in my wedges. She was adorable and smart? I knew this Fashionista was a perfect find for this week’s post!
I’ve always been a fan of the dress and sneaker combination. It’s the perfect mixture of femininity and masculinity. It’s girly girl meets tomboy. It’s an effortless look that says, “Yes, I may be a girl, but I have no problem kicking it with the boys.” It’s a style that allows you to stay true to your femininity, but still manages to give you an edge. This Fashionista just so happens to do this trend flawlessly.
She starts her look by wearing a black and white stripped shift dress from Urban Outfitters. To add a pop of color, she throws on a pair of tortoise shell sunglasses with orange temples. Next, she rocks a classic pair of turquoise Converses. If sneakers like this Fashionista’s aren’t your style and you have more of a Kristen Stewart-like style, go for a brightly colored sneaker like this pair from Vans. To add some edge to your look, go for a pair of high-tops like this pair from Nike. To finish off the look, this Fashionista sports a vintage brown and tan striped satchel.
Spotted: Moschino Cheap And Chic takes this trend by storm by pairing a strapless dress with colorful sneakers in their spring 2013 collection.
