The holidays may be over, but the winter season is still upon us and that means it’s only getting colder. So what is there to do inside on a snowy New Year’s Day? Get crafty!
I loved this Fashionista’s necklace as soon as I saw it! This one came from a local store in Savannah, but it’s the perfect inspiration for a DIY project of your own! Unique, handmade pieces are great gifts for birthdays (or belated Christmas presents). Most people put “save more money” on their New Year’s resolutions list, right? So what better way to do that then make your own gifts, decorations or jewelry and clothing? Pinterest is here for a reason!
While a simple gold or silver charm on a chain can be beautiful, a college budget doesn’t necessarily work in its favor. This Fashionista took a basic outfit (with a great rain jacket, I might add!) and made it stand out with this statement necklace! Etsy has a great collection of necklaces if you decide you want the handmade look, but don’t have the time or patience to do it yourself. I love this seashell option! Who knew seashells could be made into jewelry? And for the fashion design lover, try this bracelet featuring vintage scissors! There are even some fabulous kits for beginners! Try this Class in a Box kit from Amazon!
The most important thing to remember is that no matter how your DIY project ends up, if it’s a gift, it’s the thought that counts!
Spotted: Take a hint from Anna Sui’s spring 2014 collection that was full of big statement necklaces!
