As we wrap up summer weather and the trends that followed, one last shout out to one of my favorites, geometric pieces. Whether it be some of those crazy heels made up of different chunks, thick straps and materials; to color-blocked bags and clutches, geometric aspects were all over spring/summer 2013.
In my opinion, the best way to play with trends that come and go is jewelry and accessories. This Fashionista does this perfectly, incorporating a geometric triangle necklace with a classic pre-fall outfit. The best thing about keeping up with on trend accessories is that you can find mock-ups for cheaper, which is great for college budgets. Stores like Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters have low priced jewelry that you can stock up on and not spend a fortune. Check out these geometric pieces here.
This Fashionista encompasses the transition from summer to fall perfectly. There’s nothing better than a pair of boots, and for this fall, short bootie is just what you need. First of all they go with practically everything in your closet whether it be denim, harem pants, shorts, skirts or dresses. And because they are short, you don’t have to worry about the height of the boot. They make your legs look longer and if you have a pair with an added heel, even a little bit taller too!
These boots are being spotted everywhere, whether it is cut out, colored, buckled, leather, suede you name it. Brands like Steve Madden, Jeffery Campbell and sites such as ASOS have a plethora to choose from. Short boots are in this fall, and if you find the right pair you can wear them all year round, so be sure to snag a pair.
Spotted: Although I am a little bias because I was at the show, Nicole Miller spring 2014 ready-to-wear runway has a ton of geometric inspired separates and dresses, I guess the shapes are here to stay!
